CELEBRATE DATA PROTECTION DAY THROUGH DIGITAL CREATIVITY! New Contest

Young Europeans between the ages of 15 and 19 years are invited to enter the Data Protection Day competition (www.dataprotectionday.eu) and to create digital artwork highlighting the following theme "Privacy is a human right, handle with care." For the second consecutive year European Schoolnet and Microsoft are building on their partnership to celebrate Data Protection Day on 28 January, joined notably by Coface, VUB and the Council of Europe.

From 1 December 2009, you will be able to check out and rate the entries in the project gallery. A panel of experts will then select the finalists from amongst the most popular projects.

One representative of each nominated team in the final round will be invited for a three-day trip to Brussels, all expenses paid, to take part in the Data Protection Day award ceremony on 28 January 2009. At this event the names of the winners will be disclosed and the winning entries will be featured. The winners will be awarded cash prizes for their school or youth club, and will have the opportunity to participate in a film-making workshop.

To be eligible for the Data Protection Day competition, entries must be submitted by individuals or small groups from EU member states and EEA countries. Entries can be submitted from the 15 October until the 5 January 2010 via the website www.dataprotectionday.eu.

Learn more about data protection by consulting the teacher, student and parent toolkits on the website at www.dataprotectionday.eu.
